Hi, my name is Amanda Zinsmeyer and I’m the costume
mom for Junie B. Jones. First off, I would like to apologize for the
delay in getting this over to you. For those of you whose children will
be playing multiple parts or who will need
a costume change, you will need to underpin. Underpinning is ensuring
that your child has clothing on underneath so they can change into their
other costume quickly, and in front of the other actors behind the
stage. An example of underpinning would be a
white t-shirt for boys / white cami for girls, and spandex shorts.
I will be at PCT
on Friday from
12:30 to 1:30 pm AND
4:15 to 5:15 pm to approve costumes. If you do not have your costume yet, no worries! We can talk through it
on Friday. Also, the kids will need to show up at PCT on Tuesday, July
21
st with their costumes in a laundry basket labeled with
their name. They will keep all of their belongings in the basket for
the remainder of the production. If you have any questions or concerns,
please feel free to contact me at
amanda.zinsmeyer@gmail.com.
Ideas for costumes: (for this production, we need lots of color and solid tops preferred)
Junie B. Jones: Cartoon like, exaggerated,
mismatched, bright colors. Overalls – half rolled up, knee high socks,
purple glasses, big bow in her hair.
Bright colored (cheap) spiral notebook for the classroom scene.
Lucille: Very put together, big bow in her hair,
poufy skirt, dressy shoes. Costume #2 – Cheerleader – I would suggest a white knit tennis skirt and bright pink t-shirt. The
tennis skirt can be found at Academy at a reasonable price. Bright colored (cheap) spiral notebook for the classroom scene.
Herb, Jose and Lennie: Solid - bright colored t-shirt, colored shorts (athletic shorts are okay), sneakers.
Bright colored (cheap) spiral notebook for the classroom scene.
Sheldon: This character is nerdy, allergic to
everything. Big glasses with the bridge wrapped in white tape, bright
colored shirt, khaki or navy shorts. Bright colored (cheap) spiral
notebook for the classroom scene.
May: This character is a bossy pants – Not a
cheerleader, but a crowd controller and tattletale. Hair in a bow, just
not a big bow. Shorts, bright colors or a dress would be fine.
Bright colored (cheap) spiral notebook for the classroom scene.
Camille and Chenille: These two are twins –
Matching outfits. Costume #1: Khaki or denim shorts and a bright
colored top, big bow. Costume #2: Cheerleader –I would suggest
a white knit tennis skirt and bright pink t-shirt. The tennis skirt can be found at Academy at a reasonable price.
Bright colored (cheap) spiral notebook for the classroom scene.
Grace: Not disheveled. Short and top – bright colors. Not a lot of pattern.
Bobbie Jean Piper: Not disheveled. Short and top – bright colors. Not a lot of pattern.
Mr. Scary: This is a nerdy adult character.
Sports coat, with a bow tie. (Hair will need to be pulled back and
placed in a bun.)
Mother: Not childlike. Basic dress.
Daddy: Casual, works from home, not as formal. Polo shirt in a bright color. Khaki pants. (Will need underpinning)
Mrs. Gutzman: Traditional dress with an Apron. Needs to have a handkerchief and hair up in a hairnet. (Will need underpinning)
